Get to Know Me!

Hello there!
My name is Saisha Patel, this is my second session at Brandman University and I am majoring in Organizational Leadership and Administration. I have always taken the leadership role throughout my childhood and teenage activities and it triggered a desire to do the same in my future career path. I hope to become part of business development in either the entertainment or sports industries. I have always felt my skill set would be best used to help grow and establish something great and I hope to pursue this career with a company I am truly passionate about.
I would really like to research further about what makes a company successfully internally. How employee work together and how various departments help improve each other is something I want to become an expert on. In regards to becoming successful in the expertise of business development it is vital that I am knowledgable about these topics. After reviewing the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education I feel that I need the most work on learning how to cite sources. After years and years of being required to do so, I never felt like I was actually given the opportunity to thoroughly learn how to properly cite. This class is a great opportunity to understand these necessary writing and reading qualifications that all scholars must obtain.
Looking forward to a great class with you all!

  1. Hello, Saisha, and again, welcome to the course! It is great to have you here, and at Brandman. Are you taking most of your classes online or do you attend a campus too?

Your initial thoughts on your topic are good! Studying what makes a company internally successful is definitely scholarly. Finding out how employees work together and how various departments help improve each other is the start of a good research question. I look forward to seeing what background information you find this week and to helping you to develop your thoughts further into a research question about this topic.

As far as your goal to learn about citing sources better, I do hope to help you attain this. It is great that you not only want to know how to do it, but why! :o) Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you have about this topic.

    Thank you!
    Becky

    1. Hello Professor!

This 8 week session I am just taking online classes but I plan to attend classes at the Irvine classes in upcoming sessions as well!

I want to become better at citing sources because it is such an essential part of writing and research. Everyone deserves credit for the work they have done and I know in the years to come I will be using the research of so many to build my knowledge and I want to make sure I give them the credit they deserve...in the proper format haha.

I have already gained so much knowledge on my topic and am excited to learn more. I was clueless when it came to research methods but am grateful for the last few weeks as it has given me skills to better myself in that area. Thank you for all of your feedback and help!

  2. Hello, Saisha,
I find your degree very interesting. I had never heard Organizational Leadership and Administration. Have you always grown up with a liking in the entertainment business or sports? I think you sound like a very motivated individual. It takes a very strong outgoing personality to be a leader. I think you will have a bright future ahead of you.
I share the same goals with you in this class. I hope to gain more knowledge in the research area as well as citing sources. I hope I can also learn more about proper researching techniques.Your research question sounds like it will be a great topic with diverse information.
Welcome to the class and good luck in your future career.

    1. Hey there Kelli!
Thank you so much for your comment. I actually recently became big on both the sports and entertainment industries. I have become more of a fast paced, communicative, and out there person as the years have gone by and now find myself constantly going to shows, sports games, etc.
I definitely feel like I have already gained so much more knowledge on different research methods. How has it been for you? Is there any specific method so far that has worked best for you?
Once again, thank you so much for your comment and I look forward to hearing from you more!
